Swingers hotel enforcing ‘no sex’ policy in bid to stay open amid complaints

A swingers hotel is currently enforcing a no sex policy after a complaint was made about the X-rated venue to the local council.

The complaint, which was addressed to deputy council leader Maria Crompton, outlined a worry after the area saw an increase in infections from 106.3 cases per 100,000 people.

Xtasia Swingers and Fetish Club, located on the High Street in West Bromwich, has been open since July 4 after closing briefly during the coronavirus lockdown.

But it recently received complaints from locals after the area saw an increase in infections from 106.3 cases per 100,000 people, BirminghamLive reports.

One letter, which was sent to Sandwell council, said: “Are you, as I am, deeply concerned about the high risk of Covid -19 transmission at the adult events being held at the Xstasia Swingers complex in your area?

“A household ban is in force in Sandwell and yet this venue appears to be opening seven days a week with no apparent restrictions on who attends and from what areas!

“I am all for keeping the economy afloat, but at what cost to life?

“Surely, there must be genuine concern about the higher than acceptable risk of infection and distribution of the virus through attendees at this premises.

“Despite claiming to be ‘social events’ only, attendees to sex encounter establishments will act intentionally in a very different way from those that might attend a regular bar or restaurant, with scant regard for social distancing and making the rule of six unmanageable.

“Customers attending a regular bar, will do so with family and friends with whom they are familiar and have made advance arrangements to attend together and securely within a group of no more than six people.

“Those attending a swinger’s club will do so as individual households. Their sole intention is to seek out people with whom to be in close contact, either on-premises or in hotel rooms.

“Exponentially, increasing the risk of contracting and transmitting the virus within the community.”

But bosses at Xtasia Swingers and Fetish Club have hit back at the complaint, highlighting the changes they have made since the lockdown.

The popular establishment – offering adult themed facilities – said it is now running a ‘non-sexual bar and hotel’ since July 4.

Anti-bacterial is strategically placed around all areas of the building and communal areas will be cleaned ‘more frequently’.

A table service has also been offered to avoid people congregating at the bar. The Jacuzzi and playrooms are closed.

A spokesman for the site also said they have been enforcing a no sex policy.

In an exchange to BlackCountryLive, they said: “Since July 4, and discussions with the council, police and public health, we have been doing all we can to operate within the guidance provided at the time by the Government.

“Firstly, we are operating as a bar and a hotel only. No sex is allowed to occur within the building, and we are ensuring this is abided by.

“As restrictions have altered over time, we have reacted to them and ensured new measures are put in place.

“If you take last Saturday as an example. We had around 15 couples in the building, compared with our pre-Covid numbers of around 300, taking part in an adult quiz evening, from 6pm to 10pm.

“Every team was an individual bubble, and each bubble was not allowed to interact with each other.

“Not only do we have full NHS Test and Trace policies in place, we also have our own independent membership system which is used to monitor attendance.

“The council has already been in contact along with Public Health to call in and discuss these issues with us, but as pointed out to them, we are often the target of malicious reports such as these, from local competitors.

“We are doing our very best to stay in line with all Covid measures, and will continue to do so.”
