Man kicks teen girl in face on bus for not wearing mask before passenger intervenes
A man was caught on camera viciously kicking a teenage girl in the face after a row over her not wearing a face mask on a bus.
In the video, a middle-aged couple and a girl, who police said was 16, have a furious argument over her not wearing a face mask on the packed bus.
A random passenger intervenes – flooring the man and savagely stamping his head – apparently in retaliation for hurting the young girl, who was also allegedly racially abused.
The incident happened at about 5.40pm on October 1 on a bus in West Bromwich, West Mids.
Police said they are investigating a complaint that a teenage girl was racially abused and attacked.
It is unknown who filmed the clip however the footage has been circulating on social media.
The video begins with the older couple having a blazing row with the girl – who is believed to be 16 years old – for not wearing a mask.
The man screams at the teen: “All I’m saying is put your mask on! I’m not being racist but the virus is more common in Black and Asians. Put your f***ing mask on.”
The teenage girl responds to them before the enraged middle-aged woman screams: “Why do I have to come on the bus and put up with you sitting next to us with no mask on.”
The three passengers continue shouting at each other and the man is heard telling the teenage girl that she is more likely to kill people by not putting a mask on: “You have more chance of killing people that me giving you verbal.”
The woman screams at the teen for not wearing the mask: “You can’t be spreading something if you got it and spreading it around people.”
The couple demand the girl wears her mask and the passengers have a screaming match – before the middle-aged woman shrieks at the teenager “If you weren’t 16 years old I would knock you the f**k out.”
The young passengers dare the woman to fight her as other passengers plead with the middle-aged couple to stop arguing with the girl.
Eventually the other passengers demand the couple leave the bus.
As the pair walk off, the man turns back and shockingly kicks the teenage girl directly in her face.
The young passenger yells in disbelief at the attack.
Another passenger intervenes and admonishes the man for kicking the young girl.
He was heard shouting: “What are you doing you piece of s**t. I will f***ing murder you.”
The random passenger forcefully throws the man onto the floor of the bus so that he falls flat on his face.
The passenger then savagely stamps on the man’s head before shoving the hot-tempered couple off the vehicle.
A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “We’re investigating after a teenager was racially abused and attacked on a bus in Hill Top, West Bromwich.
“An argument broke out on the 79 bus in Moxley at around 5.40pm on 1 October, before a fellow passenger racially abused the 16-year-old and kicked her.
“He was then thrown to the ground by another passenger, who then stamped on his head.
“We have spoken to the girl, and are examining mobile phone footage which has been shared on social media.”
They added: “We take racially aggravated crimes extremely seriously, and our enquiries continue.”
