Devastated family say proud dad who died falling off electric bike had ‘heart of gold’

Tributes have been paid to a “golden-hearted” dad and grandfather who died after falling off an electric bike.

Paul Jones, 54, was taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital in north Wales after the incident at around 11:30pm on November 21.

The “skilled joiner” was taken to Stoke for specialist treatment but died there five days later.

He fell off the bike on Bwlch Y Ddeufryn Road, Gwernaffield near Mold, NorthWalesLive reports.

His devastated family has paid tribute to him saying he was a “much-loved man” who was surrounded by his family.

“He was always laughing and joking and made everyone he met feel at ease,” the tribute reads.

“He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone.

“He was a proud father of us two girls, and more recently a proud grampy.

“Paul was a very skilled joiner with a strong work ethic.

“Ever the perfectionist, Paul took great pride in his work and never had to advertise his business due to so many recommendations and repeat customers, many of whom became close friends.

“A dad, grampy, son, brother, partner and friend, Paul will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved him.”

Last week, police issued an appeal for anyone with information to come forward.

A spokeswoman for North Wales Police said: “Our heartfelt sympathies remain with Mr Jones’ family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.

“A file will now be prepared for the coroner.”
