Two teenage girls and man in 20s killed in crash as car hits tree

Two teenage girls and a man in his 20s have died after a car crash in the Black Country.

The tragedy, which left two more teenagers in a critical condition, happened in Kingswinford at around 8.50pm last night.

West Midlands Police said there were five people in the yellow Skoda Fabia when it crashed into a tree in Bromley Lane.

Those killed were pronounced dead at the scene, while a teenage girl and teenage boy were taken to hospital.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses.

Sgt Dean Caswell, who is leading the investigation, described it as a tragedy and appealed to the public for help.

He said: “This is a tragic time for the families of those involved, and we have specially trained officers who will be supporting them through the difficult time ahead.

“The investigation is at a really early stage, and we’re trying to establish exactly what happened and why.

“I’d urge anyone who saw the Skoda driving in the area last night, or who may have captured anything on dash-cam footage, to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”

In a statement police said: “The families of all of those involved have been informed. The road was closed overnight, but has now re-opened.

“Police had seen the vehicle moments earlier, but did not speak with the occupants or pursue it.”
