Girl, 14, dies after being struck by car in suspected hit-and-run
A 14-year-old girl has died after she was struck by a BMW in a suspected hit-and-run.
Emergency services were called to a collision in Moston, north Manchester, on Monday morning.
The girl suffered serious injuries after being struck by a car around 8.15am and was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Greater Manchester Police has now confirmed that the girl has died as a result of her injuries.
Officers said the teenager was crossing the road when she was struck by the vehicle.
The BMW was travelling south along Lightbowne Road at the time of the crash.
The incident prompted a major emergency response, including the air ambulance, land ambulances, rapid response vehicles and advanced paramedics.
Kevin Pryce, 45, of Quail Street, Oldham has been charged in connection with the collision.
He is accused of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop or report a road traffic collision, and driving without a licence or insurance.
Pryce has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court today.
