Boris Johnson’s dad Stanley ‘broke wife’s nose in domestic incident’
Boris Johnson’s dad Stanley left the Prime Minister’s mum with a broken nose after hitting her in a domestic violence incident, a new book claims.
The incident is one of a string of bombshell revelations in The Gambler by the investigative author Tom Bower, which is being serialised in The Mail on Sunday.
In the book Mr Bower describes Stanley’s first marriage, to Mr Johnson’s mother Charlotte, as violent and unhappy. She is reported to be quoted as saying: “He broke my nose. He made me feel like I deserved it.”
Charlotte is reported to have told the author: ‘I want the truth to be told.’
The alleged incident is reported to have happened in the 1970s and Mr Johnson, now 80, ‘deeply regrets’ it, according to friends quotes in the Mail on Sunday.
Family friends are reported to have confirmed the story but insisted that the incident was a one off.
When approached by the newspaper Stanley Johnson declined to comment and said he hadn’t read the book.
